About Us 

The Stone Soup Network (SSN) is a community based non-profit organization in Toronto’s vibrant west end that manages a database of donated products and services from local merchants, relying on ‘social connecters’  (social workers, clergy, etc.) to distribute these goods to people & families in the  community. The focus of SSN is to provides occasional ‘extras’ such as a child’s  birthday cake, a haircut for someone going on a job interview, a meal out, etc. Our goal  is to supplement existing charitable resources, not replace them. We’ve successfully  implemented a single, stand-alone neighbourhood SSN in High Park/Parkdale and our  strategic vision is to expand nationally by sharing goodwill and community building across the country. Short term goals during 6-month contract include: • Launch one new Stone Soup Neighbourhood 

• Secure $70,000 in funding 

• Establish meaningful connection with potential SSN neighbourhood partners  • Finalize financial model options presented to the Board of Advisors • Increase volunteers 

Job Description 

Reporting to a Board of Advisors, the National Director (ND) will be responsible for: • Implementing organization’s strategic vision with a focus on fundraising, growth and brand expansion/management 

• Scale the organization and lay groundwork for successful creation of additional Stone Soup neighbourhoods across Canada 

• Fundraising and grant proposals from various corporate and gov’t. entities • Support and elevate the SSN brand amongst existing and new partners 


• Non-profit experience 

• Fundraising experience 

• Relationship management & networking 

• Business & brand management

• Experienced with strategic planning 

• Bachelor’s degree or certificate in business, community development, public  admin., education and/or equivalent work & educational experience • Proven leadership skills 

• Experienced supporting a startup initiative or social enterprise 

• Recruiting and working with volunteers 

• Candidate must be comfortable working with and training others to use our  custom software platform 

• Most importantly, SSN requires an individual with a demonstrated commitment to  organizational values of equity, inclusivity, well-being, integrity, embracing community,  and generosity.  


• $60,000 to $70,000 annual salary pro-rated to a 6-month contract • Growth and future opportunities: securing additional long term funding may lead  to contract extension
